Cape Fear Framing Company: Handcrafted from Cape Fear Riverwood
Our Papers
100% Cotton Matte
I do my own printing rather than use a third-party lab. Nothing wrong with the other option, but I like the quality control I can achieve. I inspect every print and regularly make adjustments to achieve the desired look before it ships. I’d have it no other way.
I have printed with every paper on the market from the “Best there is at half the price” to the “Cannot buy a more expensive paper”. I now print exclusively on Epson Hot Press 100% cotton matte surface professional papers, a new product introduced in 2010.
Frame Profiles
- Cape Fear
- Cape Fear is our biggest and boldest profile…Nearly half a log goes into its manufacture! This frame demands attention, and no other frame we make highlights a photograph quite like Cape Fear.
- Snow’s Cut
- Our most angular profile mimicking a shadow box frame. Not quite as bold as the Cape Fear profile, but perhaps even more striking. The angles and many faces of Snow’s Cut also highlight the beauty of the wood in a fine fashion.
- High Tide
- Very clean and simple…does an excellent job of drawing your eye to the photograph. While none of our profiles are overly detailed, High Tide and its sister Low Tide exemplify the expression “less is more”.
- Low Tide
- The same as High Tide, but uses reverse angle/cuts. Very clean and simple…does an excellent job of drawing your eye to the photograph.
Frame Stains
Our frames are stained in Brown and Dark Brown. Both are hand-mixed, alcohol-based stains finished with a satin paste rub. The Brown imparts a natural wood look which highlights the unique grain of the wood…works best with photographs with significant warm tones.
The Dark Brown could be called Black, but it definitely shows the grain—usually in brown tones and highlights. Works best with cooler tones, and obviously best suited for black and white prints. Unique look.
